Depart from Moshi and drive to Marangu Gate for registration.
Start trekking through the lush rainforest, spotting blue monkeys and unique plant life.
Arrive at Mandara Hut, where you’ll have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Elevation: 2,720 m (8,923 ft) to 3,720 m (12,205 ft)
Distance: 12 km (7.5 miles)
Hiking Time: 6-8 hours

Continue your hike through the forest and into the moorland zone.

Day 3: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

Distance: 10 km (6 miles)
Hiking Time: 6-8 hours

Trek through the alpine desert, crossing the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks.
Reach Kibo Hut for an early dinner and rest in preparation for the midnight summit attempt.
Day 4: Kibo Hut to Summit to Horombo Hut
Elevation: 4,700 m (15,420 ft) to 5,895 m (19,341 ft) (Uhuru Peak) and descend to 3,720 m (12,205 ft)
Distance: 22 km (14 miles) round trip
Hiking Time: 10-14 hours

Begin the summit attempt around midnight, ascending to Gilman’s Point (5,685 m) and then to Uhuru Peak.
Celebrate your achievement at the summit of Africa’s highest point.
Descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest, then continue to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
Elevation: 3,720 m (12,205 ft) to 1,870 m (6,135 ft)
Distance: 20 km (12.5 miles)
Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
Habitat: Moorland to Rainforest
Details:
After breakfast, descend through the moorland and rainforest zones.
Return to Marangu Gate, where you’ll sign out and receive your summit certificates.
Transfer back to Moshi for a well-deserved celebration and rest.
