Our climb will be moderate but gentle and will lead us to our first camp, which offers a magnificent view of the Kenyan plains.
Day 02: Trekking from Simba Camp to Kikilewa Camp
Elevation (m): 2750–3600 Distance covered: 17 km Hiking time: 7 hours Climatic condition: moorland On this day we ascend to the second camp where lunch will be offered. After that, we will leave the direct path and diverge across the moorland on a smaller trail toward Mawenzi Side Peak to reach Kikelewa Camp in a sheltered valley. Here we will get dinner and an overnight’s rest.
Day 03:Trekking from Kikilewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp
Elevation: 3,600 – 4,330 m Distance covered: 7 km Hiking time: 4 hours Climatic condition: semi-desert Immediately after breakfast we will face a short but steep climb up grassy slopes, which will offer us magnificent, all round views. After that, we leave the vegetation behind and head to Mawenzi Tarn Camp, which is located in the amazing cirque directly beneath the towering spires of Mawenzi Peak. After this short hike, we arrive at Mawenzi Tarn Hut Camp, where we will spot the mesmerizing undried lake with neither an outlet nor inlet. Here we will get lunch and dinner followed by an overnight’s rest.
Day 04:Trekking from Mawenzi Tarn Camp to School Camp
