Overview

The 6-Day Machame Route offers the best ultimate experience to test your willpower, fitness level, and mental strength. The route takes you through the lush rainforest, where colobus monkeys roam. Kilimanjaro Machame Route will give way to heather and moorland with its many ferns and Erica plants. The varying altitudes on this 6 days tour offer a good environment for acclimatization increasing your chances of reaching the summit. The Machame route joins with the Lemosho route near Lava Tower.

Arrival at the Airport and Pick Up
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International or Arusha airports Kilimanjaro Climbing Specialist will be waiting and ready to receive you and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi Depending on your time of arrival, you will spend the rest of the day relaxing at the hotel or exploring the town of Arusha or Moshi In the evening Kilimanjaro Climbing Specialist, will meet you for a detailed briefing about the 6-Day Machame Route hike.

Schedule Details

Day 2: Machame Camp (3,000 masl) – New Shira Camp (3,840 masl).

On day 2 Climbing Specialist will wake you up early in the morning and provide you with warm water to freshen up. You will be served breakfast after which the day’s hike will start aiming to reach the destination in 4 to 5 hours of hiking. The hike will take you to New Shira Camp. You will pass the moor and heath zone reaching New Shira Camp around mid-afternoon. At the Camp, you will have lunch and relax for the remainder of the day. You can enjoy great views of Kibo Peak from New Shira Camp at sunset. Dinner will be served in the evening to allow you time to retire to your tent for the night.
 

Day 3: New Shira Camp (3,840 masl) – Lava Tower (4,600 masl) – Barranco Camp (3950 masl)

On day 3 you will walk from New Shira Camp to Lava Tower. It is a long and tough trek taking about 5 – 6 hours to complete. The route turns east into a semi-desert and rocky landscape surrounding Lava Tower. On arrival at Lava Tower Genius Kilimanjaro Climb will serve you lunch before proceeding for another 2-hour walk to Barranco Camp. This is the most important day on your trek as it gives you a chance to hike high and sleep low which is important for proper acclimatization. By the time you arrive at Barranco Camp, our team will have set the tents and prepared the camp for your comfort and rest. You will be served dinner and allowed to retire to your tents for the night.

Day 4: Barranco Camp (3950 masl) – Barafu Camp (4600 masl)

After spending the night at the Great Barranco Camp you will start your day 4 with breakfast after which you make your way up the Barranco Wall, an awesome-looking obstacle at the elevation of 4200 meters above sea level. The climb will take you about 1 hour to the top of the Wall. It is not as difficult as it seems. At some stages, you will be required to use your hands for a better grip. However, no technical climbing skills are necessary. After reaching Karanga Camp Climbing Specialist will serve you lunch before proceeding with the hike to Barafu Camp. Our team of guides will be with you every step of the way to lend a helping hand. At Barafu Camp, which is the base camp, you will be served dinner and take an early night in readiness for the summit night. Before retiring to rest our team will brief you in detail on how to prepare for the summit.

Day 5: Barafu Camp (4600 masl) –Uhuru Peak (5,895masl) – Mweka Camp (3,100 masl)
At around midnight Genius Kilimanjaro Climb will wake you up with a warm cup of tea and biscuits to get you ready for your final ascent. Your headlamps, and moonlight on a lucky day, will be your only source of light as you make your way up to Stella Point at 5,730 metres above sea level, reaching the crater rim in about 5 to 7 hours. Another 1 to 2 hours will take you to Uhuru Peak where you can enjoy the sun rising over the roof of Africa. After capturing this incredible view and achievement on film, you will start your descent along the same route back to Barafu Camp. Our team will be waiting for you with some snacks and refreshments. You will rest in your tents before making your way to Mweka Camp for your last night on the highest mountain in Africa. Dinner will be served at Mweka Camp after which you will retire for the night.

Day 6: Mweka Camp (3,100 masl) -Mweka Gate (1,600 masl) – Arusha

Day 6 is your last day of this fantastic adventure with Climbing Specialist, The day begins after breakfast with a traditional farewell ceremony from our team after which you will begin the descent. The descent will take 2 to 3 hours from Mweka Gate at 1,600 meters above sea level. At the gate you will sign out of the park and then have lunch before you are driven back to your hotel for rest and overnight stay
